Scholar in Residence Weekends

For an in depth, community building experience, Betsy offers Scholar in Residence Weekends! Betsy will lead a lunch and learn with either staff or local clergy, followed by attending Kabbalat Shabbat and giving a D'var Torah. On Saturday, she will attend or facilitate Torah Study, and will be available throughout the day for learning and community building experiences with multiple populations, ending with Havdallah. On Sunday, Betsy typically leads a session for parents and a separate learning experience for religous school staff.

We loved having Dr. Betsy Stone with us as our Scholar in Residence. From the moment she delivered her Shabbat sermon, our community was hooked. That one sermon led to a weekend full of meaningful and engaging learning. I heard over and over, ‘I could listen to her all day!’ And not just from adults—our teens were all in, too. One of our confirmation students even referenced Betsy’s values exercise in her Confirmation speech because it made such a lasting impact. Betsy brought wisdom, warmth, and honesty to every session. We’re still talking about her visit.
